You may have considered what to wear in your holiday destination, but what about during your journey too? We would recommend you opt for loose, comfortable clothing as you may be sitting in cramped spaces for long periods of time. Layers are also a good idea, so that you can add or remove items as the temperatures change.
If you plan to use an airport lounge whilst you wait for your flight then you will certainly enjoy more comfortable surroundings, but there are considerations here too as most lounges operate a dress code policy. Many people don’t realise this, but it pays to check in advance to avoid any embarrassment – that would not be a great start to your trip!
Here, No.1 Lounges tell us about its policy, which is fairly standard across most lounges.

If you’re looking to begin your trip with a little glamour then airport lounges are a great place to start. Despite what you might think, many lounges out there can be accessed regardless of the airline you’re flying with or the class of ticket you’ve got. If you’re not sure what’s available it’s worth checking the official airport website.
When thinking about booking an airport lounge, we recommend checking their dress code policy before your visit. It might seem odd to follow a dress code when at the airport, but they’re generally intended to keep the lounges feeling premium and fabulous. This doesn’t necessarily mean suited, booted or donning a cocktail dress, but most won’t allow tracksuits or sports wear – for example at No.1, we want you to feel at ease so request smart casual attire.
If you’d like to be comfortable for your flight why not start with something slinky like a tunic and leggings, then add a statement necklace and fitted blazer to up the glamour. Alternatively you can always pack something comfortable in your bag and change before your flight, but bear in mind looking and dressing smart might increase your chance of being upgraded by your airline if they have any unsold business or first class seats left!
Talking of upgrades, you can really go to town with your lounge experience by adding champagne or a spa treatment. So you can get your nails into shape with a two week manicure or crack open the bubbly to celebrate the start of your trip.
It doesn’t matter where you’re jetting off to, you can tailor every part of your trip, from your clothes to your pre-flight experience – dressing to impress will only make it more fun and fabulous!
